The CEMP is a postdoctoral fellowship programme co-funded by the Marie Curie Actions, the Irish Higher Education Authority Programme for Third Level Institutions Cycle 4 and the Italian National Research Council. The aim of CEMP is to support experienced research fellows at various stages of their career in attaining and strengthening their career prospects to become independent investigators or senior scientists in education or industry.

Within the remit of NBIP, the CEMP funds and supports research fellows undertaking interdisciplinary research and training programmes in biophotonics and imaging applied to cancer, cardiovascular and neuro-degenerative diseases.

Training: The CEMP Fellowship experience is enhanced by the following educational and training initiatives which are made available to the Fellows:

  • NBIP Ireland education modules covering a broad spectrum of topics from microscopy to image processing. Click here.
  • Seminars, workshops and conferences on a variety of topics such as Intellectual Propoerty and Commercialisation, Low Cost Parallel Computing etc. Click here.

Fellowships Awarded: Sixteen Marie Curie Fellows have been awarded funding for fellowships ranging between 12 and 24 months under this programme. The fellowships awarded are a combination of incoming and outgoing mobility. Profiles on individual fellows are available at the links below.

 Dr. Fiona O'Mahony, who recently returned from the University of California Irvine, will present a seminar on her research work entitled 'Novel Regulation of Metabolic Responses by Estrogen' in the RCSI-ERC,  Beaumont Hospital. Click here for further detail. 

May 2011 The National Access Programme (NAP) committee has approved the proposal by Dr Gennaro Picardi. The project is entitled: Electron beam fabrication of optical nano-antennae for SERS based ultrasensitive bioanalysis. The NAP is a programme of the Tyndall National Institute with funding from SFI.

1st March 2011 The Italian Institute of Culture (IIC DUBLIN) hosted dinner for the CEMP fellows and their respective supervisors. Photogallery available here.

28th February-4th March. The Leadership and Management Development Programme (LMDP) was hosted by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland(RCSI).
